Curves-n-Couture Welcome!
I'm Dez and I'm a self-proclaimed Diva. I don't stomp around demanding my way, but I definitely dress the part. I've always loved fashion, clothing, and accessories. When I was young I would insist on pretty dresses, matching bows, cute shoes, matching socks, and a cute purse (you know, for my books and blocks!) Today it's no different (cept it's makeup and a weed pen)!
Sadly, though, there was a dark period when I didn't dress up, I was overweight (still am), shy, and honestly unmotivated and uneducated. My mother wasn't a "girly girl" and didn't know anything of fashion to teach me and I wasn't happy with my body. So my life consisted of large t-shirts and poorly fit jeans...there was also an unfortunate blonde curtain bang incident over dark brown hair that makes me shudder to this day...but I digress.
I didn't think Fashion belonged to fat girls. Not when the only people I would see in fashion were very thin women. There wasn't an Ashley Graham in modeling in the 2005+ period, and most stores didn't carry plus sizes. We forget that the Gap and Old Navy having a plus section is a relatively new thing. Without plus-size role models and with lots of societal judgment, I honestly hated my body and I didn't think it deserved to be adorned.
I'm happy to say that since high school and college, I've grown, I've shrunk, I've been active, I've been bedbound. Through all of that, I realized my body was working hard for me every day, and there was a beautiful person inside, desperate to be herself...so I let her and I decided to love her.
My life is so much better now that there's color, sparkle, softness, and glitter. The most surprising thing I've found is that most people are just waiting for permission to be themselves. I gave myself permission and now I'm giving you permission. Don't be afraid, I never get criticized, I get complimented anytime I go out or dress up because people respect the confidence of someone doing themselves and being proud.
Honestly, it's going to be so.much.fun!
What are my qualifications? Well, I've been dressing and styling myself for about 34 years. I have almost perfect color perception so I can match shades very well. I have also been blessed with a fashionista's eye, and understand color theory and design. I know how to pair colors, textures, and accessories to make a simple $5 Goodwill dress shine. I instinctively know how to dress to feel and therefore look, sexy.
I just want to share this knowledge because when you feel beautiful you are beautiful!
If you're interested I do one-on-one consultations and would be willing to be a personal shopper.
Today, I just want to share some of my accessories and jewelry!
